Southport Performing Arts Conservatory Keeps Chicago Dancers on Their Toes This Summer
Summer Dance Intensive Provides instruction while cultivating an understanding and appreciation for dance as an expressive art form.
- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2011 - Chicago dancers looking to keep on their toes this summer need look no further than the Southport Performing Arts Conservatory's (SPACE) 2011 Summer Dance Intensive. Held July 18-30, 2011, at SPACE's newly renovated Peterson Ave. location, 3433-37 W. Peterson, Ave., Chicago, IL, the 2011 Summer Dance Intensive is designed for dancers ages 7-17 and provides intensive dance instruction while cultivating an understanding and appreciation for dance as an expressive art form. Additionally dancers enrolled in the 2011 Summer Dance Intensive will have the opportunity to perform in front of large audiences at public appearances including neighborhood festivals and the popular lunch-time "Under the Picasso" program in downtown Chicago.
Under the direction of SPACE artistic director and noted choreographer Altin Naska, the 2011 Summer Dance Intensive integrates contemporary skills, ballet technique including pointe and variations and contemporary ballet as well as character dance, modern, jazz, tap and hip hop. The program offers dance students the opportunity to work with experienced instructors from the professional dance community.
Dance students can enroll in SPACE's 2011 Summer Dance Intensive for daily, weekly or two-week sessions lasting two to three hours each.
