Southport Performing Arts Conservatory Announces New Drama Program with Special September 17 Orientation Followed by Antoine McKay's "The Recession of Wisdom"
Southport Performing Arts Conservatory (SPACE), one of Chicago's leading arts organizations, has added a drama program to their existing music and dance classes. As a special introductory offer, those attending the orientation will receive 2 weeks of drama classes for free.
- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) September 13, 2011 - Southport Performing Arts and Conservatory (SPACE) has announced the addition of a new comprehensive drama program to its existing line-up of quality music and dance classes. Designed for ages seven through adult, the drama program has been created by professional actor and director Antoine McKay. A special orientation and introduction to this new drama program is scheduled Saturday, September 17 at 3 p.m. at 3433-37 W. Peterson Ave., Chicago. The special orientation is free and, as an introductory offer, SPACE offers those 7 years of age and older attending the orientation 2 weeks of free drama classes. Excerpts from McKay's dark comedy Recession of Wisdom takes place immediately following the orientation. Tickets for the play are $5 and available at the door. Antoine McKay is a respected actor and director with more than 20 years of experience. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, McKay has studied with Uta Hagen and has appeared onstage with The Second City in Detroit and Chicago as well as in television shows such as "Detroit 187," "ER," "Prison Break" and "Sports Action Team" as well as films including The Weatherman with Nicholas Cage, Someone to Eat Cheese With featuring comedian Jeff Garland and Standing in the Shadows of Motown and Osso Bucco. McKay has taught drama at the University of Notre Dame and Cambridge University.
