"Judge Mike" Stuttley is running for mayor of South Holland and will be discussing what policies would be most effective in combating the challenges facing the south suburbs, amongst them a troubling level of youth violence. He is especially interested in creating the kind of economic stability that will allow parents to better provide for their children.
About Judge Stuttley
Judge Stuttley served sixteen years as the first full-time juvenile court judge for Chicago's south suburbs, which include Dolton, Harvey, and South Holland. He was appointed by Cook County in response to the youth crime wave that came to that area following the demolition of Chicago's public housing projects in the 1990s. Today the south suburbs are amongst the poorest areas in the nation.
Judge Stuttley has employed innovative approaches to dealing with juvenile criminals from the very start of his tenure. In 2008, Judge Stuttley gave an address to the Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood entitled "Parental Alienation from the Juvenile Court's Standpoint." His rich experience both in law and in youth services make him an excellent resource for fathers concerned about their children's well-being.
