The 26th Annual Las Olas Art Fair will offer a wide variety of original art by leading local and national artists appealing to all tastes and budgets. This popular festival is produced by Howard Alan Events and hosted by the Las Olas Association. Admission is free and open to the public.
Howard Alan Events takes an active role during Breast Cancer Awareness month and provides artists with an ideal venue in which to display art inspired by their experience with this disease. They hope to reach many of the thousands of locals and tourists that turn out for this two-day event and hope they will be supportive of their efforts. The artists' booths will be identified with a pink ribbon and partial proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to breast cancer research.
"We have lost several artists to this disease and dedicate our efforts to them and those that have survived," says festival promoter Howard Alan. "These artists continued to work and exhibit their art while they bravely battled breast cancer."
Sculptor Pamela Hill lost her mother to this devastating disease and counts her sister among the fortunate survivors. Her new sculpture "Angel of Comfort" is an example of her unique work. Pamela combines very delicate and tiny solder drops, copper rods and wire along with healing crystals and gemstones to form her sculptures. These original works of art are intended to bring the mind, body and spirit back into harmony.
An Art Giveaway will give festival patrons an opportunity to win an original framed abstract painting by participating artist David Edmund. His work is unique, bold and thought provoking. He favors warm colors and achieves texture in his paintings by alternating palette knife work with brushwork. The giveaway prize will be on display at his booth throughout the weekend where registration will also take place until 4:00 pm on Sunday, when the winning ticket will be drawn. Additional information and images of David's work can be found on his website, www.DavidEdmund.com. No purchase is necessary to participate in this giveaway.
"This event is a wonderful celebration of the arts," says festival promoter Howard Alan. "It is very much like an outdoor art gallery, perfect for art enthusiasts and collectors interested in new quality investments as well as shoppers looking for unique gifts."
