South Bay Ballet's Kirsten Marshall Enters Ballet Magnificat! Trainee Program
At the close of every season, South Bay Ballet bids farewell to many of its pre-professional dancers. Some embark on collegiate studies while others begin careers as professional dancers. This year is no exception!
- Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) August 16, 2011 - On the heels of fellow dancers, Paul C. Kirk and Regina Park Suh, South Bay Ballet announces Kirsten Marshall has accepted a position with Ballet Magnificat!, the internationally recognized Christian ballet company founded by Kathy and Keith Thibodeaux. Marshall will join the Company's trainee program this September and will begin intensive technical studies not only in the art of ballet, modern and conditioning, but also courses in anatomy, discipleship/Bible study, as well as participate in trainee company rehearsals.
"This acceptance means so much to me because I personally want to use my dancing to glorify Jesus Christ, who is everything to me," shares Marshall. "Ballet Magnificat! is such an amazing opportunity to celebrate Christian ideals through dance. I look forward to my training and performance opportunities in the coming year to help spread the Company's message and purpose."
A Southern California native, Marshall, 18, has been dancing since the age of 10 with the last five years under the tutelage of Diane Lauridsen of Lauridsen Ballet Centre and Artistic Director of South Bay Ballet. This year, Marshall won acceptance and a full scholarship to the Ballet Magnificat! summer intensive program in Jackson Mississippi, and now joins the ranks of South Bay Ballet alumni who have gone on to dance with professional ballet companies here at home and around the world.
