South African National Defence Force, Army, and ARMSCOR to discuss Armoured Vehicle Priorities at Pretoria Conference
Defence IQ is presenting the inaugural Armoured Vehicles South Africa conference, taking place 20th-22nd August 2011 at the Sheraton Hotel, Pretoria.
- (1888PressRelease) June 16, 2011 - As the South African military gives increasing attention to the three main armoured vehicle procurement and upgrade programmes - Hoefyster, Sepula and Aorta - senior representatives from the South African National Defence Force, Army and ARMSCOR will be providing insight into the key selection criteria and priorities in these programmes, as well as current capability gaps, the latest developments in survivability technology, and new priorities in regional procurement.

• Lieutenant General Antonio Gucciardino, General Manager of the Procurement Agency for Land Systems, Italian Army
• Major General S.O. Idoko, Commander, 3 Armoured Division, Nigerian Army
• Dr. Grace M. Bochenek, Director, Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), US Army
The first to develop some of the mainstays of armoured vehicle technology today, including the V-shaped hull, the role of the South African armoured vehicle industry has been critical in recent years as survivability technology has become one of the most pivotal aspects of armoured vehicle programmes around the world.
