  • Sheboygan, WI (1888PressRelease) September 04, 2015 - GoEvnts Team: Can you please tell us what is this Amplifi all about? Why it was started ? How this will support building start-up ecosystem in India?

    Sudarshan: Amplifi was started with the objective of promoting SaaS in India / Asia and also B2B tech entrepreneurship in India. Already, there are some great global SaaS products from India and it's just the tip of the iceberg as far as opportunities for Indian startups are concerned. We want to keep the tempo going and build/launch more successful global SaaS cos from India. But we have a unique model unlike other accelerators and incubators in India. We follow the global startup studio model taking prominence in developed markets.

    GoEvnts Team: Can you explain the detailed working model of Amplifi? Who can participate in Amplifi competitions ? Is it for only students or for budding entrepreneurs.? Why do you choose this specific sect?

    Sudarshan: We chose SaaS based on what we know, what is our passion and where we feel we can make maximum impact. We wanted to be very focused and specific where we can add value to the ecosystem. From a commercial perspective, it is the most in-demand vertical of enterprise tech together with data security and big data. It has the highest valuations, greatest long term opportunity and an amazing number of M&A activity. For the next foreseeable years, we see no spate in SaaS growth.

    We are looking for a team that has attempted and failed a tech startup as first choice, followed by teams having 3-5 yrs work experience and doing their first startup. Our last choice would be freshers out of business School (with some work experience prior to business School).

    GoEvnts Team: When are you expecting the start of the first batch on Amplifi? Please give details in what way the selected batch will be nurtured, guided and provide resources to realize their dream.

    Sudarshan: Amplifi is a startup studio for B2B SaaS startups. Our primary objective is launching & accelerating new global SaaS start-ups from India. We are looking to grow the SaaS ecosystem in India and then moving beyond in Asia.
    Our focus :

    Identify pressing customer needs and opportunities

    Devise solutions and business models that may fulfill those needs

    Find and hire young operating team members

    Lead these members to rapidly launch companies for these business models

    Spin them off and scale them

    Startup Studio:
    The program is located in Bengaluru and lasts for six months. We are in the process of signing an MOU with a respected B School to host the program in their campus.

    Every six months we plan to shortlist 3 ideas to take to market and hire "Entrepreneurs in Making" or "Entrepreneurs in Residence" for each idea/startup.

    The teams will need to be based in Bengaluru and the first batch of startups is aimed for Oct 2015. The applications for operating team member positions will be opened shortly.

    Entrepreneur Development program:
    We have an in-house development program that puts the selected entrepreneurs through serious training sessions during the six months while they develop & launch the product with our hands-on help. At the end of the program, the EIMs are expected to become independent operating team for each startup.

    Sourcing of "entrepreneurs in making" for each start-up ideas is going to be the most important initiative. Each batch begins with an application process that will invite aspiring entrepreneurs to apply for the idea of their choice. After which there will be face to face pitch day for shortlisted teams along with a detailed round of personal interviews with a high profile selection committee.

    Sourcing for Batch # 1 will be launched 1st week of September.

    Goevnts Team: What are your future plans to diversify Amplifi activities?

    Sudarshan: Future plans are to grow the program to HK and Singapore and even Middle East. We also want to raise an internal micro VC fund so that we can hire more team members, increase the number of batches per year and scale up our operations. We have plans to launch a few more verticals but they are in planning stage right now.
