SonoSite's M-Turbo(R) helps reduce waiting times at Southampton

- (1888PressRelease) August 08, 2012 - Patients attending musculoskeletal clinics at Solent NHS Trust's services at the Adelaide Health Centre in Southampton are benefitting from SonoSite's M-TurboŽ hand-carried ultrasound system. Nicky Wilson, a clinical specialist physiotherapist, explained: "The introduction of ultrasound into our shoulder clinics came about because patients were experiencing long waiting times for ultrasound-guided injection in secondary care. We wanted to be able to offer this service in house, eliminating the need for additional patient referrals."
"We currently use the M-Turbo for ultrasound-guided therapeutic injection into the shoulder. It allows quick identification of the anatomical structures, enabling the needle to be accurately positioned. I particularly like the M-Turbo's small size and simplicity - the system is very easy to use with limited ultrasound knowledge and has good image quality. We now run an injection list twice a month, avoiding the need for patient referral, which is a great benefit. Previously, patients waited several months for treatment; this has now been reduced to just a few weeks, which they appreciate. The M-Turbo has enabled us to improve patient throughput and deliver a better service for our patients."
