The Zimmer Group is expanding their North American business. As part of their global business strategy, Zimmer Group has purchased a building in Hickory, North Carolina, and will start their direct operations in the United States under the name Zimmer Group US, Inc., starting January 2016. At the same time another independent subsidiary will be founded, Zimmer Group Canada.

These North America subsidiaries will offer products and services from the parent company's six technology ranges: handling technology, damping technology, linear technology, process technology, tooling technology and machine tooling technology.

In addition to tried-and-tested standard components, Zimmer Group US and Zimmer Group Canada will also offer their customers semi-standard and OEM solutions, as well as customer-specific and customized systems, which will be sold in the market under the three brand names Zimmer, Sommer Automatic and Benz.

With the new formation of their subsidiaries, Zimmer Group is sending a clear signal that they will intensify their operative and strategical market development in North America.

History:
Since 1990, Sommer Automatic products have been locally available in the North American Market. In 2010, Sommer Automatic Inc. was opened to better serve and support the Customers.

Since 2003, the Zimmer Clamp, Brake and Shock Absorber range of products have been sold by Intercon Automation Parts Inc.

As part of the Global consolidation for Zimmer Group Products, the sales and service operations for both Brands will be taken over by Zimmer Group US for the USA and Mexico markets and Zimmer Group Canada for the Canadian market.
