Softtek Recognized by Microsoft for its Work in Developing New Products for Data Visualization
The firm worked on developing new features for Zentity.
- (1888PressRelease) July 19, 2011 - LOS ANGELES - Softtek, provider of services that maximize the value of business applications, has been recognized by Microsoft for its work with Microsoft Research, an area that collaborates with leading academic, government and industry researchers to advance 60 areas in state of the art computing. Softtek received an award in the application development category at Microsoft's WPC (World Partner Conference) 2011 in Los Angeles last week.
Softtek has been collaborating with Microsoft's Research division as a service provider for custom development since December 2010. More specifically, Softtek has been involved in feature development of Microsoft Zentity 2.0-a repository platform designed for academic, governmental, and scientific organizations that conduct and compile research (http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/zentity/).
Zentity has the ability to find and explore interesting relationships between elements both programmatically and visually. With these features, researchers can easily access, analyze and unlock the previously hidden structure and relationships among data elements, as well as extend existing data models.
The project required Softtek engineers to customize deployments and extend the existing functionality of Zentity 2.0. The team was responsible for localizing the platform into the Spanish language and deploying a pilot project at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, located in Colombia. This development was achieved in Softtek's center of excellence in Ensenada, Mexico, where the firm is building robust capabilities for Microsoft's newest platforms, including Azure.
"This has truly been a remarkable experience," said Jaime Palacios, general manager of Softtek's global delivery center in Ensenada." Working jointly with Microsoft Research has provided us first-hand experience with top notch technology, and the next generation of its products-something we'll certainly be able to leverage with our corporate clients in their adoption of Microsoft's new technologies," he added.
