Social Media the Internet and Law Enforcement Conference To Be Hosted By Chicago Police Department
The SMILE Conference™ to be held May 9-11, 2011.
- Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) May 05, 2011 - On May 9-11, 2011, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) will host the third Social Media the Internet and Law Enforcement (SMILE) Conference at Chicago Police Headquarters to discuss the use of social media to improve law enforcement, crime prevention and officer safety.
The SMILE Conference brings together one of the largest assemblages of law enforcement professionals in the nation to address the use of, and responses to, social media. Additionally, SMILE attendees will be briefed on two crucial issues facing Law Enforcement today: Officer safety and Officer victimization.
"The SMILE Conference is perhaps the only conference that addresses the full spectrum of issues surrounding social media and law enforcement," said Travis Scott, Senior Vice President, Government Solutions, Nixle.com. "As such, it is the most important gathering of its type in the nation this year. From the Department of Homeland Security announcing that the Terror Level Alert System will now include Twitter updates, to user-tracking issues, the time is ripe for a holistic approach and response to these technologies."
The key speaker lineup and international panel of experts will lead attendees through three days of in-depth social media and Internet education specific to law enforcement professionals. Lectures and sessions will cover topics such as online officer safety, including use of Facebook and Twitter, social engineering, mobile video and geolocation threats.
