- (1888PressRelease) January 21, 2019 - The students of the Sharanya Narayani International School (SNIS), which is located in Hoskote, Bangalore were recently granted a great opportunity to get valuable insights into the world of journalism through a workshop organized at the school campus. This workshop was conducted by the editor of the popular Hindi newspaper ‘Parivartan’. He imparted a great deal of knowledge about journalism and its nitty-gritty to the students. He said that it’s important to be brave and courageous in this profession. He said that the press is considered to be the fourth pillar of democracy after the executive, legislature and judiciary owing to the role it plays in connecting the public and the government and hence, it acts as a mirror to the society. Adding to this he said that because the press is considered to be the society’s mirror, the public invests their trust in it and hence one should always make the effort to bring only the truth before the people. In today’s world, where a lot of fake news makes the rounds, it is imperative for people to understand how to estimate and judge what the real news is. He explained to the students, ways to distinguish between the two and understand what is real.
This workshop was much appreciated by the faculty as well as the students and it certainly inspired the students to explore journalism on a larger scale and more importantly, to stay true to the society. The workshop was also attended by the Managing Director of SNIS, Mr. Nagaraj Reddy, the Marketing Head of the school, Retd. Major Nikhil Dhar and teachers of SNIS, Ms. Rajeshwari Vidyashankar, and Ms. Jayalakshmi.
