Smixin connected faucets rolled out in the town of Biel- water savings guaranteed
SMIXIN, an innovative SME from Biel, announced the launch of the efficient hand-washing systems, “the COMBI” and “the COMPACT”.

Water is the source of life and freshwater makes up only 3% of global water reserves. With a large number of people struggling to find potable water to use for drinking and cooking, it is high time to find effective solutions to avoid wasting this ‘liquid gold’.
The COMBI, a 3-in-1 unit that dispenses water, soap, and paper, and the COMPACT, a 2-in-1 system delivering water and soap are designed to offer its customers the savings of up to 90% of water and 60% of soap and water respectively when compared to a standard system.
The “Verwaltungsgebäude am Zentralplatz”, an administrative building in the city of Biel, Switzerland, has been equipped with 5 COMBI systems. Mrs Barbara Schwickert, Director of Public Works, Energy and the Environment for the town of Biel, who has been supporting the young company’s project from its inception said, “When we realised that the main advantage of the SMIXIN machines was to be able to make considerable water savings in the long term, we decided to participate in this endeavour, as part of our environmental policy.”
An added advantage of the SMIXIN’s products is that its connected systems can be managed remotely while indicating that the products are dynamic. Additionally, the products are designed using the advanced technology, “Supervision”, to control SMIXIN systems. The technology utilizes the usage and status data for each SMIXIN’s product such as the number of hand-washes performed, the quantity of water used and the amount of soap remaining in the devices to anticipate restocking and maintenance. This technology allows complete visibility to a dispenser’s status to ensure the dispenser is always filled and in a good working order.
