  • (1888PressRelease) February 17, 2011 - After three months of extensive research, Smart Grid Update announces the launch of its 2nd Annual Smart Grid Technology Conference 2011. The event will be held in San Jose, California on June 1st and 2nd 2011.

The Smart Grid Technology Conference is the flagship event for the Smart Grid Update brand. The event is set to attract more than 300 senior executives from the Smart Grid industry and will cover all the need to know opportunities in smart grid technology.

This year's topics include Telecommunications, Data Management, Cyber-Security, Standards, Distribution Automation, Demand Response 2.0 and Home Automation.
The event has quickly established itself as a thought leadership forum for senior management from leading utility, telecom and technology companies. The agenda is strictly content driven, and has garnered respect from around the industry for its authenticity in shining a light on pressing issues.

Whilst the focus is strongly on technology, the event is very much utility led. Utility executives speaking this year include Lee Krevat, SDGE; Ali Morabbi, LADWP; Reid Nuttall, OGE; Tony Suarez, TVA; Kevin Wood, Southern California Electric; Bob Frazier, CenterPoint Energy; Jeff Myers, CIP; Heather Cummins, Avista Corp. and more. All the speakers are forward thinkers in their own right and out of the 25 presenters, 18 are non-vendors.

"Only speakers who enhance the agenda topics and present the material in an interesting way can speak at the conference" says Baruch Hecht, the conference producer.

The organizers are particularly excited because this year the agenda features multiple case studies and pilot programs from smart grid projects around the US. "Case studies are always a hit with attendees", added Hecht.

The 2nd Annual Smart Grid Technology Conference expects to gather over 300 C level and senior executives from utilities, technology and telecom companies. The support from the industry has been impressive. The event has 18 respected media partners with more signing up every week.

"The idea for the show is to bridge the communication gap between utilities and technology companies. We all need to be part of the conversation and to work together to ensure a win-win outcome for all stakeholders", concluded Hecht.

The Smart Grid Technology Conference is taking place on June 1st-2nd at the Crowne Plaza in San Jose. For full event information, please visit the website at
