  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) April 01, 2013 - Food entrepreneurs are welcome to build knowledge and share ideas at the Small Bytes and Apps food business boot camp at Knight Auditorium at Babson College on Wednesday, April 17th. Veteran entrepreneur and chef Wheeler del Torro is teaming up with the Graduate Student Council to host a one-day crash course in launching and growing a food-based business.

Responding to the growing interest in the food industry - from food trucks to mobile applications to pop up restaurants - del Torro is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with up and coming entrepreneurs who are creating, launching and growing culinary businesses.

The first session will cover topics particularly relevant to individuals who are considering starting a new food business, including a discussion of the key factors behind business success, building a dedicated team, and financing options for small businesses. The second session will cover topics of interest to existing businesses, including branding and marketing, promotion through social media channels, trends important to customers today and differentiating by going green. Each participant will have access to an "Entrepreneur Toolbox" of resources.

Chef del Torro "is excited to team up with Babson College because of their long history of excellence in supporting young entrepreneurs." Babson's MBA program was recently named No. 1 in Entrepreneurship for the 20th consecutive year by U.S. New & World Report. Babson College has also been quick to recognize the growing opportunities in culinary entrepreneurship - hosting chefs Andrew Zimmern and Gail Simmons to be Entrepreneurs-in-Residence.

Small Bytes and Apps is sponsored by Babson's Graduate Student Council and 3 Scoops Cafe. To register for the event, visit www.wheelerdeltorro.com/boot-camps/.
