Sino US MRI Summit Forum Opens Successfully In Beijing
Successful Summit opened in Beijing and Nanjing with more than 200 leaders from leading hospital.
- (1888PressRelease) April 13, 2011 - China - Time Medical, together with China Medical City (CMC), ZhongHua Radiology association Beijing branch and Jiangsu Association successful opened the "SINO-US MRI Summit Forum" in Beijing and Nanjing on March 15 and 17, 2011 respectively."
Over 200 leaders from leading hospitals and well known imaging specialists attended this forum to understand the trends in MRI development from renowned experts in this field and to exchange knowledge. The opening speech was delivered by Ms. Qian Lin, Director of CMC and Mr. Yao Xin Zhong, Vice Director of Jiangsu SFDA department, to welcome everyone to the symposium.
It was a great honor to have world-famous radiologist chairman of University of California San Diego, also ex- Chairman of International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, Prof. William Bradley as the keynote speaker. Prof. Bradley's "MRI and its future trends" speech received huge applaud from the audience, leaving a great impression to all guests.Prof. Bradley emphasized in his speech that MRI used to depend on magnetic field to get quality imaging; the higher the magnetic field, the better the image quality, but higher magnetic field also increases the cost of MRI substantially. Prof. Bradley refers Time Medical's High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) as a breakthrough technology that could overcome this limitation and change the perception of low field MRI.Time Medical's HTS RF coil technology increases Signal-to-Noise ratio (image quality) 2 to 5 times higher without having to increase the magnetic field of the system, so low field system can now perform like high field, keeping both cost and risks low.
Prof. Dai Jian Ping, followed up with an update on MRI development in China and his views on future R&D and clinical MRI applications. He pointed out that the development on MRI during the 80s surrounds on the magnet; in the 90s surrounds on gradient coil and in the new millennium surrounds on RF coil such as Time Medical's HTS RF coil technology. He further shared that MRI market in China is seeing a major shift. The 3 largest International MRI players - GE, Philips and Siemens' combined market share have fallen from 80% before to 60% now mainly because China market is now looking for affordable quality MR systems. This shift benefits companies such as Time Medical, who has patented technologies that fits the bill - their MRI with proprietary HTS RF Coils, provide high quality imaging yet is significantly more affordable to cater to developing markets like China.
Time Medical's CEO, Prof. Q Y. Ma, along with various Southeastern University's radiology professors including Prof. Ju ShengHong, also delivered interesting topics on the subject of MRI to close the forum in a high note.
