Singer-Songwriter Joshua Stallings Releases Debut Album; Giving Fans Nothing But The "Truth"

In an era where soul singers are being praised for their vulnerability in vocal projection and writing skill, 23 Year-Old Pop/Soul artist Joshua Stallings is rising to the occasion.
For the past 6 months Joshua has been secretly creating an album that he calls his "most vulnerable" body of work. Stallings is no stranger to music having released his first song on iTunes called "Disaster" in 2012. The single was his own spin on the singer JoJo's single and was released to critical acclaim. He also released his first original song "Delabre" on iTunes in early May this year.
"It was very important to me to stay true to the reason why I love music myself. Being vulnerable and showcasing the sides of your thoughts that make you uncomfortable or ashamed is a scary thing to put forward but it is something I appreciate from the artists that I listen to," states Stallings.
Early this year Joshua began his first serious relationship; a relationship that brought "gratuitous amounts of joy" and unfortunately ended 6 months later. Their split caused Joshua to develop severe depression, eating disorders, alcohol dependency and attempted suicide.
"I took a lot of time working through confusion, frustration and pain in order to put on this victim facade," Stallings further explains. "I hid away from everyone in my life at that point. I was afraid of being judged or cared for because any disposition was painful. At the time I didn't have a healthy outlet and that basically lead to my own demise".
During a conversation with a close friend, Joshua was inspired to heal and find closure through writing and singing his emotions. "Recording and listening to these songs made me so uncomfortable, and for a long time I considered never releasing any material," said Stallings.
After a long and hard consideration, he let go of all bad habits, developed a healthier lifestyle and proceeded with the announcement of an album. Along the way, Stallings sporadically released songs from the album that were met with commercial and critical acclaim.
"In the end everybody feels the same things. We may not be proud of the thoughts we create or the decisions we make but it all comes down to our own resolution and ultimately our recovery. I'm happy to be at this point in my life with this record because it allowed me to heal and find the light at the end of all of the darkness, and I hope this inspires somebody else to develop their own creative outlet that leads to peace for themselves," Stallings concludes.
