"From Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer to Carole King and Dolly Parton. Composers have long sung their own songs with satisfying results. Radigan, too, gives her own works their proper due."- People Magazine
"Radigan gets inside the pathos of love like no one else. A jazz noir sound with pop sensibilities. A stunning collection of songs."- Mademoiselle
Songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Radigan, finally breaks out with her long-awaited album The Breakdown of a Breakup, to be released on Valentine's Day. The 11 songs pull at the heartstrings of all those who've loved, lost, and developed a sense of humor along the way.
After a lifetime of writing and producing music for incredible artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, Anuna, Ashley MacIsaac and Faith Hill, Radigan has finally written an album for her own voice. Her combination of words and melodies has garnered notoriety as a genuine and respected songwriter and musician within the industry.
Ironically being released on the most love-centric commercial holiday of the year, The Breakdown of a Breakup is as "Anti-Valentine's Day" as you can get. A collection that Terry says is her most personal, mature and liberating work yet; pouring out her soul after her 20 year marriage came to an abrupt end. To get through the trying and emotional time in her life, Radigan's solace was writing these songs.
The Breakdown of a Breakup is a roller coaster of emotions; "The Truth" depicts all the little lies you tell yourself when the truth at hand is too much to bear, the angry explicit-filled, "Mistake" that was written when the truth surfaced, and "Emily" a song dedicated to the other woman. It's the complete story of a breaking relationship; denial, anger, sadness, and the final phase of empowerment and moving on.
Sonically, the album is a lush and eclectic mix of pop, rock, country, and alternative, propelled by her rich, soothing and sometimes raspy voice, magnetic guitar-driven melodies and on some tracks, blaring horns and swinging strings. The end result is a Shawn Colvin/Aimee Mann/Pink Martini/Carole King-esque mixture of tracks satisfying a wide range of tastes and ears.

ABOUT TERRY RADIGAN
Radigan has established herself as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who seamless crosses over genre boundaries. The guitarist, pianist and vocalist began her career as a member of the Warner Brothers' recording group, Grace Pool, where she joined the band to replace Shawn Colvin in the late 80s.
Her debut solo album, Radigan, was released by Vanguard Records in 2000, and was praised by the likes of People Magazine, Billboard, Rolling Stone, Mademoiselle, and Utne Reader, among others. Recorded in the attic of her Nashville home and co-produced by Justin Niebank and Kenny Greenberg (Edwin McCain, Freddy Jones Band, Alison Moorer and The Blues Travelers), Radigan features Radigan on the banjo, mandolin, autoharp, piano, guitar and more. Off Beat Magazine said of Terry, "Writing clever and catchy love songs to bear up to repeated listening has never been easy, but Terry Radigan seems to pull it off with relative abandon. Even better, she sings with a sometimes sultry, sometimes coy approach that has both the dark, emotive qualities of k.d. lang with the wistful vulnerability popular among today's young chanteuses."
The abrupt end of her twenty year marriage inspired Radigan's most recent project, a collection of songs she calls, The Breakdown of a Breakup. The album is the complete story of a breaking relationship: denial, anger, sadness, and the final phase of empowerment and moving on. The Breakdown of a Breakup (Catherine The Great Music) is set for release on the most love-centric holiday of the year, February 14th, 2012.
