Silicon Valley Alumni of BITS Pilani in a Stellar Constellation at BITSync2016 Palo Alto
BITS Pilani Alumni Association Silicon Valley Chapter BITSAA SV brought together a whole range of dreamers performers and achievers around the world to discuss Industry trends, Entrepreneurship, building Indo American companies and much more. The event idea was a brainchild of Jayan Ramakutty and Naveen Bisht.

This indeed makes every alumni a Proud to be BITSian who graduated from BITS Pilani which undoubtedly has been one among institutions of top world university rankings.
The path breaking conference was organized on Sat, Sep 17 2016, 7:30 AM - 10:00 PM at Oshman Family JCC, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto, CA 94303. Apart from Professional events, the conference included Lunch with a Luminary BITSian lacha ChitChat sessions with mouth water harvesting sam chats, music night and more, which brought back memories from campus days.
Following a brief batch connect networking session, the conference was given a kickoff by Preethy Padmanabhan President of the BITSAA Silicon Valley Chapter. Prof Souvik Bhattacharyya Vice Chancellor BITS Pilani addressed the alumni highlighting the role played by alumni in building the BITS Pilani brand name. The keynote talk was delivered by none other than Dr. Larry Brilliant MD MPH DSc Winner TED Prize, TIME 100 most influential people
The panel discussion on State of the Industry: Enterprise IT Transformation covered the newer innovations that have happened recently, from the alumni Varun Mehta, David Flynn, Dinesh Subhraveti and Krishna Yadappanavar who have demonstrated leadership in those segments.
To tackle some of society's most pressing social problems, the panel comprising of Dr BP Agrawal, Sydney Larson, Rajan Patel and Jyoti Raju discussed the Perspectives on Social Entrepreneurship.
The panel comprising of Dilip Varadarajan, Ganesh Srinivasan, Prasad Thammineni and Ganesh Venkataraman took the discussion around emerging marketplaces and technologies that enable them.
A diverse panel of healthcare industry experts which included Niranjan Bose, Shalabh Gupta, Mohan Uttarwar and Sri Madabushi discussed perspectives on current opportunities and challenges in providing affordable healthcare for an exploding population, tackling antibiotic-resistant drugs, and innovations in the emerging field of genomics and personalized medicine.
The panel discussion with experts Siva Natarajan, Mahesh Ramasubramanian, Nalin Senthamil, Ravi Kurupati and Satheesh Subramanian covered the possibilities and dangers of red hot technologies such as augmented reality and virtual reality which hold immense potential to transform entire industries, from advertising and construction to entertainment and healthcare
The panel Sourabh Satish, Raj Rajamani, Sudhir Kandula, Sanjay Sawhney and Aanand Krishnan discussed the ever challenging issues of Cyber Security. My Journey into Entrepreneurship had Jai Shekhawat, Dr. Kumar Ganapathy, Kamal Anand and Naveen Bisht sharing their dream ventures. Considering that BITS Pilani always had one of the most envying women enrollment statistics over years, the session on women who rock in business included Shobna Varma, Swati Bhatia, Prasanna Gopalakrishnan and Supriya Iyer.
The topic Career Transition: Make the Move from Engineering to Business was discussed by Dheeraj Pandey, Girija Krishnamurthy, Rahul Tripathi, Radhika Krishnan, and Preethy Padmanabhan. The heavily loaded VC Panel with Sundi Natarajan, Preetish Nijhawan, Ashmeet Sidana and Ajay Chopra unloaded their thoughts on Money Money Money to fund BITSian Dreams.
BITSian alumni in the US have their feet in two worlds, with their own distinct cultures and strengths. To have best of both worlds, the topic building Indo Amrican companies was discussed by entrepreneurs Companies Jishnu Bhattacharjee, Bipin Shah, Don Delzell, Avinash Harsh and Manuj Rathor. The inevitable Beyond STEM: Alternate Careers had Anu Hasan, Vinita Sud Belani, Narpat Bhandari and Shivkumar Jayaraman who have made their own mark in their chosen fields.
The conference had befitting closing remarks from "Kellogg" Prof Alok Choudhary, "Cisco" Prem Jain, "Talent Bundle' Anu Hasan, "Sierra Atlantic" Raju Reddy and "Stanford" Prof Krishna Saraswat. Networking with 43 batches (1957 to 2013), 300+ attendees required lots of positive energy from a whole lot of BITSAA SV Volunteers Proud to be BITSians Sairam Sankaran, Jyoti Raju etal who said that while the conference BITSync 2016 has ended, the beginning of a new era in alumni Alma mater bonding has just began.
