- (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2010 - New York - Sid Bernstein, the legendary entertainment promoter known as the 'Godfather of the British Invasion' is pleased to announce plans for a British-themed series of benefit concerts that will continue in 2011 and continue as an annual event.
Bernstein said he was "very excited" to name Producer Woody Degan of Memphis Sound Entertainment as the exclusive Producer/ Production company to organize the extravaganza.
In an announcement today, Bernstein publicly accepted a position as Honorary Chairman of the Board and Promotions Advisor for the company and event. The Board also includes: Jason Grant, Creative Director; Debra Schrack, Project Manager of Digital Assets, Heidi Smith, Talent Coordinator, and Maureen Shames, Public Relations Director.
The board will work with various artists, plan how many days the event will take place and determine whether the series will take place at multiple venues. In addition, they will review worthy charities and make a selection of one of more beneficiaries. More event details will be released to the media in the near future, as plans unfold, according to Bernstein. A preliminary event was recently produced with resounding praise of all involved parties.
Meanwhile, Bernstein is glad that he will be involved with the same artists whom he enjoyed working with during the British Invasion of the '60s. "It will be gratifying and exciting to work with creative people whom I've known for many years," Bernstein said. "I am sincerely looking forward to this special reunion and seeing if our efforts can make a difference for people in need."
For more than five decades, Bernstein has had a shining career in the music industry. He is a promoter who also has been a manager. He is legendary for bringing both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to America.
Now, Bernstein is interested in utilizing modern technology to reach a broader audience than he ever thought imaginable at the beginning of his career. Recently at a meeting, Degan explained to Bernstein how concerts could be electronically streamed to people who could not physically attend the show. The idea for this benefit blossomed during that discussion.
As Production Manager and Chief Engineer of Memphis Sound Entertainment, Degan produces and promotes hundreds of concerts, festivals, corporate and private events annually. He is a highly regarded technology expert on digital content, creation and delivery. Currently, Degan is exploring venue options across the United States and in Great Britain and has alluded to the "possibility of a multi-site event that stretches across the ocean, and beyond."
Degan said that it is "quite appropriate" that this benefit will be a tribute in Bernstein's honor. "It's more than a thrill just to meet THE man," Degan said. "His life's work influenced not only the music industry, but also the entire world, and it's still influencing us today. This is our humble opportunity to show our respect to him."
