Shridhar University Pilani Rajasthan Observes National Youth Day
India aptly observes the birthday of Swami Vivekananda who was born on January 12, 1863 and became immortal on July 4, 1902 as National Youth Day. A quote attributed to Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore goes as "If you want to know India, study Vivekananda". William James, the Harvard philosopher, called Swami Vivekananda the "paragon of Vedantists."
- (1888PressRelease) January 18, 2011 - According to Swami Vivekananda, the education which does not help the common mass of people to equip themselves for the struggle for life, which does not bring out strength of character, a spirit of philanthropy, and the courage of a lion, is not worth the name and real education is that which enables one to stand on one's own legs.
Presently 350 million Indians in the age group 10 to 24 constituting roughly 30 percent of the population are seen not only as a great hope but blessings for the global future. If India gets it right by empowering the youth with the right education, it will benefit from its demographic dividend with a young, productive workforce that will propel economic growth for decades.
A quote of Swami Vivekananda which truly inspires the youth goes as "Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success".
