Show & Tell Announce Opening Reception for May Exhibition Featuring Artist Kay Marshall
Show & Tell announced that the opening reception for artist Kay Marshall's solo exhibition at Show & Tell, an Oakland-based concept shop, will be on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 6-9pm.
- San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) April 18, 2012 - Show & Tell, a concept shop in Oakland's City Center district specializing in ethically made goods, and clothing from California based fashion designers, will be hosting an opening reception for East Bay artist Kay Marshall in the store's gallery on May 4 (first Friday) from 6-9pm. This will be Show & Tell's first exhibition, highlighting their ongoing efforts to incorporate art into the space, which sells Californian and locally sourced fashion and house wares. The reception will highlight Marshall's unique abstract paintings and layered monotypes. Attendees can expect to meet the artist and the owners of Show & Tell, while enjoying refreshments and perusing the art and fashion.
Show & Tell, the brainchild of retail veterans Alyah Baker and Nichole Payton, is a lifestyle brand, concept shop, gallery, and gathering space located in vibrant downtown Oakland. Show & Tell serves as a platform for unique, fashion-forward apparel and accessories, artwork, and house wares. They showcase local, independent designers, sustainable fashion, cause-driven brands, and ethically sourced and produced products made in the USA. Artist Kay Marshall describes her work as "very process orientated."
"It explores themes of memory, impermanence, and," Kay says, "the relationship between opposites such as order versus chaos, structure versus gesture, and line versus form. I try to develop levels of meaning by building and/or removing layers of paint, ink, paper, and other materials."
