  • Nashville, TN (1888PressRelease) July 11, 2013 - Show Hope™, a nonprofit orphan care ministry founded by GRAMMY® award winning Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife Mary Beth, in partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation continue to raise awareness and provide assistance for families who have a desire to adopt children with special needs. Under the joint partnership venture, both foundations made a special surprise announcement during Show Hope's 10-year Anniversary Celebration in Nashville, Tenn.

The Barrett family was invited on stage and presented with an adoption aid grant to cover all expenses to bring their third adopted child (Sabrina) with a rare liver disorder home from China. The special gift was awarded by the Chapman's, Show Hope Executive Director Scott Hasenbalg, Tim Tebow Foundation's Executive Director, Erik Dellenback and Tebow himself via video (link to video, http://showhope.org/way-beyond-floored/).

"When we walked onto stage with Steven and Mary Beth, we wanted the whole world to know what Show Hope had done for our family; how incredibly blessed we had been because of their love and help in bringing Sarah and Sam home," Kim Barrett said. "But it was only when Tim Tebow addressed us by name that we finally began to realize what was happening! We were beyond floored (way beyond)! I don't know that we caught half of what anyone said after that moment - all we could think of was Sabrina and what a great relief it was to know that we now had the ability to bring her home - that God was providing a way."

The Barrett's learned about the first little girl they brought home through adoption, Sarah, through an email sent out by Mary Beth Chapman pleading for someone to adopt Sarah, stating she would not likely survive with this rare liver condition if she stayed in China and didn't receive surgery. Sabrina has the same condition, and she has been waiting for two years at a Care Center for a family. Although the Barrett's stepped up with the desire to bring Sabrina into their family, they couldn't bring her home and provide for her care without financial help.

Show Hope, together with the Tim Tebow foundation humbly offered to assist in this effort. On a pre-taped video message broadcast at the Show Hope 10 year celebration event, Tebow shared, "Tonight we're honoring the Barrett family. Together we are bringing Sabrina home and helping cover the costs." Tebow shared that when he was 15, orphans changed his life. Spending time in the Philippines gave him the opportunity to see kids who had been neglected, raped, and thrown away. He spent time with these kids, caring about them. This experience gave him a heart for orphans. "I feel privileged to be partnered with Show Hope. I am so thankful for it," he said.

Since its inception, Show Hope has assisted in 4,000 adoptions in over 50 countries and provided medical care to hundreds of orphans with special needs through Show Hope's Special Care Centers in China. At the celebration event, Scott Hasenburg, Show Hope Executive Director was overjoyed to point out, "I am just thrilled to say that it's now 4,001."
