  • (1888PressRelease) February 21, 2014 - PRCI, the premier body of PR, Media and HR professionals and academicians, has announced the award to Amish at the 8th Global Communication Conclave held on February 14 and 15.

    Mrs Rajashree Birla, director of Aditya Birla group of companies who was the Guest of Honour at the Conclave, presented the award.

    Amish has recently been listed among the top 100 celebrities in India by Forbes magazine in 2012 and 2013. He has also been listed as one of India's New Icons by the DNA newspaper in its eighth anniversary special. Amish has also been awarded Society Young Achievers Award for Literature.

    An alumnus of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, Amish worked for 14 years in the financial services industry, in companies such as Standard Chartered, Development Bank of Singapore and IDBI Federal Life Insurance, before starting his writing career.

    The Immortals of Meluha, Tripathi's first novel, was published in February 2010. It is the first book in the Shiva Trilogy. The second book in the series, The Secret of the Nagas, was released on 12 August 2011. The third installment, titled The Oath of the Vayuputras, was released on 27 February 2013. The trilogy is a fantasy re-imagining of the Indian deity Shiva's life and adventures.

    The Shiva Trilogy has become the fastest selling book series in the history of Indian publishing, with 2 million copies in print and over Rs 500 million in sales.

    The Indian language movie rights of The Shiva Trilogy were purchased by Dharma Productions in early 2012. The Hollywood rights for the series has also been contracted. The books have been released in 10 Indian languages. It has also been released in Bahasa Indonesian (by Mizan Pustaka) and in the UK (by Jo Fletcher Books (an imprint of Quercus Books)). Contracts have also been signed for the Portuguese, Spanish and Estonian rights for the books.
