Shaastra, Technical Festival of IIT Madras, Organizes Sampark at Coimbatore
Shaastra, the annual technical festival of IIT Madras, will be reaching out to colleges in Coimbatore this year with its outreach program: Sampark.
- (1888PressRelease) September 17, 2012 - With a series of events being conducted and winners gaining a wild card entry into the finals at Shaastra, not to mention Rs. 15,000 worth of prize money, this is an effort to bring the annual celebration of "The Spirit of Engineering" closer to students across the country.
● Samparks are a series of workshops, events, lectures and qualifiers organized at cities across India as part of Shaastra.
● Sampark Coimbatore will take place on the 23th September at PSG College of Technology.
● Prizes worth Rs. 15,000 to be won from four events held across the day.
With footfalls of over 20,000 each year, Shaastra is well-known for being one of the biggest and best technical fests in Asia and the first in the world to be ISO: 9001 certified. The 14th edition of the fest will be held from 5th to 8th January, 2013.
Samparks are a series of workshops, events, lectures and qualifiers that are held at cities across India in an effort to bring Shaastra closer to everyone. Sampark Coimbatore 2010 witnessed a 1000-strong participation from colleges across the city providing an interactive platform for some of the brightest minds of the city. This year, with new and improved events that assure wildcard entries, never before seen demonstrations and much more, Sampark provides an exciting sneak-peek of what lies in store.
The Coimbatore edition of Shaastra Sampark will be held on 23th of September from 9 am to 5 pm at the PSG College of Technology.
Sampark Coimbatore has the following events lined up:
Auto Quiz: An event where auto enthusiasts battle it out, grinding out cars and bikes from their grey matter, to gain a direct entry into the finals of the coveted Shaastra Auto Quiz.
Project X: A design challenge to transform common house-hold items into working models of real-world objects. This fun event is a real test of your creativity, craftsmanship and innovation.
Robotics Session: A hands-on workshop which aims at spreading engineering awareness and passion for robotics in students. This teaches them the basics of robotics, and trains them to build a working robot right from scratch.
Sustainable Cityscape: A challenge to dream of a better city and come up with implementable and innovative solutions to urban problems keeping in mind the current scenario and future requirements in select rapidly growing cities of India.
