  • (1888PressRelease) January 11, 2011 - The American Petroleum Institute (API) Inspection Summit & Expo, which takes place at the Galveston Island Convention Center in Galveston, Texas, January 24-27, 2011, is one of the leading events for the oil, gas and petrochemical industry. Furthermore, it is the only networking event for inspectors in the industry.

At stand 101, SGS will showcase its wide portfolio of services for the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry. Further, SGS will take an active part in the summit sessions by holding four interesting presentations on the first three days of the summit, January 24-26, 2011.

During the first session on January 24, Paul F. Schubert, expert for Asset Integrity Management, will hold a presentation on the Application of Field Data Computers to Vessels and Piping. Attendees will have the chance to learn about new technologies that have been introduced into the inspection processes. The seminar will also present results from field usage of tablet computers for API-510 and API-570 inspections for three applications.

With the title "Upstream Oil and Gas Well Site Inspection: Lessons Learned from Inspection of 25,000 Well Sites and Associated Plants" on January 25, Paul F. Schubert will discuss the unique challenges of inspecting oil and gas well sites, compared to the more traditional downstream and chemical facilities.

On the third day of the summit, January 26, SGS experts will give two presentations titled "Reliability Focused Inspection: Key Factors to Ensure Predictability" and "Mechanical Integrity Data Clean-Up in Preparation for RBI." Anthony W. Chaney, an API certified Mechanical Integrity Engineer for SGS Industrial Services, will talk about the key factors of managing an asset and the utilization of methodology for a reliability-focused inspection program. Further, Paul F. Schubert, in his session on mechanical integrity, will teach a systematic approach for evaluating the quality of data, developing methods to address project-specific deficiencies, estimating the scope of the effort and developing a work plan to produce a database suitable for transfer into Risk Based Inspection (RBI) software.
