SGS Summarizes Updated Test Methods for China RoHS

SGS publishes SafeGuardS looking at adjustments to the applicable test method standards for China RoHS. End Quote

(1888PressRelease) March 10, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 036.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of recent changes to the test methods for the Restriction on the Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products. (China RoHS).

Announcement No. 3 of 2024 was issued by the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China on January 25, 2024. It replaces test method standard GB/T 26125 with a series of standards, known as the GB/T 39560 series, to ensure alignment with the international IEC 62321 series of standards.

China RoHS manages the use of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic (EE) products. These are:

• Lead
• Mercury
• Cadmium
• Hexavalent chromium
• Polybrominated biphenyls
• Polybrominated diphenyl ethers

It applies to products listed in the ‘Standard Achieving Management Catalog’.
