SGS Summarizes Updated Chinese Product Standard for Medical Use Protective Face Masks

- (1888PressRelease) March 22, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 045.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of China’s updated national product standard for medical use protective face masks – GB 19083-2023.
The new standard was issued by the Standardization Administration of China in November 2023 as part of China’s No. 12 announcement on approved national standards in 2023. It applies to non-powered filter masks, or half masks, designed to filter particulate matter in the air and block droplets, blood, body fluids, secretions, etc. in medical work environments.
The new standard covers all aspects of the medical face mask, including factors relating to material performance, design construction, marking, packaging and storage. It will come into effect on December 1, 2025, replacing the previous iteration - GB 19083-2010.
