SGS Summarizes Ukrainian Declaration Legislation for Food Contact Materials and Articles
SGS publishes SafeGuardS looking at Ukraine’s declaration of conformity (DoC) requirements for food contact materials (FCM) and articles, which will apply from November 19, 2025.
- (1888PressRelease) January 27, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS detailing new declaration of conformity (DoC) requirements for food contact materials (FCM) and articles in Ukraine.
Issued by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Order No. 1743 of October 2, 2023, contains the general provisions for DoC for 18 types of FCM, including a combination of these materials and/or recycled materials.
Among the provisions in the legislation are requirements that:
• A DoC must accompany ceramic articles that are not yet in contact with food at all stages of circulation, including the retail stage
• Varnishes and coatings made with bisphenol A (BPA) should be accompanied by a DoC at all stages of production and circulation, except at the point of sale to the end user
• Test reports and other documentation for food contact plastics, ceramics, varnishes and coatings demonstrating compliance must be provided to authorities if requested
The Order entered into force in December 2023. It will apply from November 19, 2025, which is the same day as the nation’s law on FCM and articles.
