SGS Summarizes Proposed Revision to Ecuadorian Technical Regulation on Toy Safety
SGS publishes SafeGuardS highlighting Ecuador’s planned toy safety requirement amendments.
- (1888PressRelease) July 05, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS reporting on Ecuador’s intended revision to its toy safety requirements. If approved, the new law will apply six months after publication.
On June 4, 2024, the World Trade Organization (WTO) circulated a draft technical regulation to amend Ecuador’s Technical Regulation on Toy Safety (RTE INEN 089). The draft contains important provisions, including a scope definition for toy products with HS Codes and toy safety requirements for mechanical and physical properties, flammability and migration of certain elements. It also specifies ISO 8174 and EN 71 test methods for demonstrating compliance.
