SGS Summarizes New Ukraine Rules for Melamine and Polyamide Plastic Kitchenware

  • (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 073.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of Ukraine’s new requirements governing market access for certain types of plastic kitchenware.

    Issued on April 23, 2024, Order No. 460 of March 18, 2024, (Order No. 460/2024) establishes special requirements and detailed rules for food contact plastic kitchenware made from:
    • Polyamide
    • Melamine

    It follows the European Union’s Commission Regulation (EU) No. 283/2011, which set requirements for food contact polyamide and melamine plastic kitchenware originating in or consigned from China and Hong Kong.

    Order No. 460/2024 contains special migration requirements:
    • Polyamide – no more than 0.01 mg/kg primary aromatic amines
    • Melamine – no more than 15.0 mg/kg formaldehyde
