  • (1888PressRelease) July 24, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 111.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of the main technical changes brought in with China’s new mandatory product standard for infant and children’s footwear – GB 30585-2024.

The new standard was issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on May 28, 2024. It covers footwear products made from a variety of materials aimed at children aged up to and including 14 years.

The new standard replaces the previous iteration – GB 30585-2014 – and will come into effect on June 1, 2025.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory changes that may impact their ability to operate. SafeGuardS 111.24 includes details of the main revisions, additions and deletions to the standard. It includes a table showing the primary technical requirements, covering item, test method and requirement. For example, the test method for broken needles is GB 30585-2024, 6.1, with the requirement that shoes should not contain any broken needles.

Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 111.24 for more information.
