SGS Summarizes New Chinese Mandatory Product Standard for General Safety Requirements in Footwear

SGS publishes SafeGuardS 110.24 on China’s new standard covering the general safety requirements for footwear – GB 25038-2024. End Quote

China’s new mandatory product standard covering the general safety requirements for footwear – GB 25038-2024.

GB 25038-2024 was issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China (PRC) on May 28, 2024. It is applicable to footwear products made from a variety of materials. However, it is not applicable to:
• Protective shoes (boots)
• Footwear products for children under 14 years of age

The standard replaces and abolishes:
• GB 25038-2010 Rubber Shoes Healthy and Safe Specification
• GB 25037-2010 Industrial Rubber Boots
• GB 21536-2008 Athletic Shoes
