The new standard applies to the labeling of footwear products produced or sold within the borders of the People's Republic of China. It was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on July 28, 2023, and came into effect on February 1, 2024, replacing the previous iteration QB/T 2673-2013
QB/T 2673-2023 brings in a number of revisions to the marking requirements for product name, materials, place of origin, enterprise name and contact information, executive standard number and quality level. It also revises marking elements on shoe and inner packaging (including hangtag) and the marking format and requirement. There are also deletions relating to ‘three guarantees’, production date, outer packaging and color.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 040.24 provides an overview of the new standard and includes a table detailing the main technical requirements relating to:
• Product name
• Shoe size
• Materials
