SGS Summarizes Mandatory Food Contact Product Standard Proposals in Thailand
SGS publishes SafeGuardS detailing the WTO’s circulation of three Thai draft ministerial regulations announcing proposals to mandate standards for the regulation of certain food contact materials.
- (1888PressRelease) July 20, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a summary of three draft ministerial regulations issued by Thailand’s Ministry of Industry and circulated by the World Trade Organization (WTO). If accepted, these regulations will create mandatory Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) for certain food contact materials (FCM) and articles.
The proposed mandatory standards outlined in the SafeGuardS are:
• TIS 3206-25XX (20XX) ‘Stainless Steel Utensils for Food: Safety Requirements’
• TIS 1027-25XX (20XX) ‘Plastic Bags for Food’
• TIS 3022-25XX (20XX) ‘Microwavable Food Plastic Bag for Reheating’
