SGS Summarizes Hong Kong Consultation Over Update to Standards for Toys and Children’s Products

(1888PressRelease) December 20, 2023 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 162.23 to keep stakeholders informed about proposals by the authorities in Hong Kong to update mandatory safety standards for toys and children’s products.

A one-month consultation was launched on December 1, 2023, to update Hong Kong’s Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance. If accepted it will adopt the latest versions and operative versions of standards for toys and six categories of Schedule 2 products, such as baby walking frames, child safety barriers and bunk beds.

SGS publishes SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that could impact their business. SafeGuardS 162.23 contain details of the one-month consultation currently being run by the Hong Kong authorities and a table with the proposed new standards.

Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 162.23 for more information.

Comments will be accepted by the Hong Kong authorities until December 31, 2023.
