  • (1888PressRelease) June 27, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS summarizing the most recalled products in Europe in 2023, as detailed in the EU Safety Gate 2023 Annual Report.

The report contains information exchanged and published between EU member states regarding the number of alerts for dangerous product recalls. Cosmetics, with 32% of recalls, was the most recalled category in 2023, taking the lead from toys (at 13%). The most common risks notified in the report were chemical (51%), injuries (21%) and choking (8%).

The aim of the General Product Safety Regulation, which enters into force on December 2024, is to strengthen the EU surveillance rapid alert system, and its requirements will apply to the Safety Gate.
