SGS Summarizes EU RoHS exemption for cadmium and lead in PVC applications
SGS publishes overview of revision to the EU RoHS Directive to allow an exemption for lead and cadmium in recovered rigid PVC for use in electrical and electronic doors and windows.
- (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 020.24 to provide stakeholders with further details on the European Union’s revision to the RoHS Directive (2011/65/EU) to exempt cadmium and lead in PVC applications.
The exemption was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on January 10, 2024, as Directive (EU) 2024/232. It applies to recovered rigid PVC used in electrical and electronic doors and windows. The exemption was added to Annex III of Entry 46 and came into force on January 30, 2024.
