SGS Summarizes ECHA Consultation Over Two Substances as SVHC

SGS publishes SafeGuardS looking at ECHA proposals to list two chemicals as SVHC. End Quote

(1888PressRelease) March 20, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 041.24 to keep stakeholders up to date with the latest proposed changes to the EU Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHC).

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a 45-day consultation over the listing of two substance on March 1, 2024. If accepted, the Candidate List will expand to 242 entries.

The two substances under consideration are:
• Bis(α,α-dimethylbenzyl) peroxide
• Triphenyl phosphate

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 041.24 looks at the consultation being run by the ECHA and includes a table detailing the reasons for possible listing and potential applications for the two substances. These include the manufacture of plastic and rubber products and the formulation of flame retardant/plasticizer preparations.

The ECHA will accept comments on the proposals until April 15, 2024.
