  • (1888PressRelease) July 19, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 105.24, giving stakeholders an overview of the UK Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) amendments to the Great Britain mandatory classification and labeling (MCL) list for substances and mixtures. The revisions have applied since June 26, 2024.

The consolidated ministerial decision uses procedures in Article 37 and Article 37a of the GB regulation on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation) to revise the GB MCL list to include 88 substances and remove entries for titanium dioxide (in powder form) and granulated copper.

According to the HSE website, 90 substances in the 14th and 15th Adaptations to Technical Progress (ATP) to European Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures (ATP 14 and 15 to the CLP Regulation) were not retained under GB law at the end of the implementation period, on December 31, 2020.

In line with the GB CLP Regulation, self-classification from duty holders impacted by the declassifications will be necessary.

SGS SafeGuardS 105.24 provides further details on the GB CLP Regulation and MCL list, including links to all relevant documents. Interested parties are requested to review the original document for more information.
