SGS Launches the SGS Independently Checked Mark
SGS launches the SGS IC Mark to provide a one-stop solution for independent testing and regulation compliance certification for non-food products.
- (1888PressRelease) August 23, 2017 - SGS has launched the SGS Independently Checked Mark (IC Mark) to help manufacturers and retailers generate confidence and trust among consumers, bringing transparency to the complex world of product testing and regulation compliance.
The IC Mark is currently available for all non-food consumer products. It proves the product has been independently tested by a third-party laboratory. Manufacturers and retailers can test products against one or more of the initiative’s six testing criteria: Quality, Performance, Durability, Functionality, Usability and Workmanship.
The SGS IC Mark helps manufacturers and retailers achieve:
• Competitive advantage – products have to fulfil legal requirements, national and international standards. The mark is highly visible and provides easy access to understandable information for consumers who are seeking products with quality, performance and safety
• Transparency – product information is easily accessed by scanning a QR code, and it avoids counterfeiting
• Quality – the SGS IC Mark is reviewed yearly to ensure that products continue to meet the requirements and regulations against which they have been tested and evaluated
• Trust – the product has been independently and randomly sampled and is tested by an independent third-party to help gain the trust from consumers, thus, it helps improve the brand image of customers
Customers want to know their products are safe and so they look for a sign they have been independently tested. Whatever the product, the SGS IC Mark shows them the product has been tested to all appropriate regulations and the highest standards – being clarity to the sometimes confusing marketplace.
Consumers know they can trust the SGS IC Mark because it is backed-up by a rigorous and structured program of Testing, Surveillance and Transparency of Information. After the product is initially tested and approved, it can carry the SGS Independently Checked Mark. The product then undergoes market surveillance and testing, at least once during the year to ensure continued compliance.
Products qualifying for the IC Mark also carry a QR Code, giving customers fast and easy access to product data stored on the Independently Checked Mark Online Database. This database brings greater clarity and assurance to the consumer, bringing increased trust in the brand.
SGS’s IC Mark simplifies the sometimes confusing world of standard’s marks, helping manufacturers and suppliers differentiate their product in the marketplace.
