SGS keeps stakeholders informed about new Canadian carriage and stroller regulations

(1888PressRelease) November 02, 2023 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 140.23 to provide stakeholders with an overview of Canada’s new Carriage and Strollers Regulations (SOR/2023-101).

The new regulations came into force on June 7, 2023, triggering a transitional provision that allows carriages and strollers compliant with the repealed regulations (SOR/2016-167) to continue to be manufactured, imported or sold in Canada for 180 days. Stakeholders should be aware that the transition period ends on December 4, 2023. After this date, all carriage and strollers sold in Canada must comply with the new regulations.

The new regulation seeks to reduce the number of injuries in children associated with these products. It specifically addresses known hazards:
• Strangulation
• Entrapment
• Integrity of car seat attachments
