SGS Issues SafeGuardS on Ukrainian Moves to Approve Technical Regulation on Substances and Mixtures
SGS has issued a SafeGuardS looking at Ukraine’s intention to approve its technical regulation on the classification, labeling and packaging of chemical products.
- (1888PressRelease) May 17, 2023 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is advising stakeholders that Ukraine is planning to approve its Technical Regulation on Hazardous Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Chemical Products.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources announced the draft resolution via the World Trade Organization (WTO) on April 20, 2023. When adopted, it will harmonize the nation’s legislation with relevant sections of European Union Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 on Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP Regulation) and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS).
SGS has issued SafeGuardS 049.23 to help stakeholders gain a better understanding of the requirements in the proposed technical regulation. It includes a table detailing the proposed effective dates:
• July 9, 2023 – entry into force
• June 29, 2024 – paragraphs 55, 56, 62, 75, 112-140 and 143-146
Stakeholders should be aware the draft resolution makes provision for products not in compliance with the new technical regulation, but placed onto the market prior to its entry into force, to remain on the market for one year from this date.
