SGS Invitation to Free Seminars on Advanced Ultrasonic Testing in Singapore and Malaysia
In September 2011, SGS provides two free seminars on Advanced Ultrasonic Testing techniques in Singapore and Malaysia. A half-day overview on September 6, 2011 in Singapore is followed two days later with a more in-depth, full-day seminar in Malaysia.
- (1888PressRelease) September 03, 2011 - SGS is offering two free seminars introducing a variety of Advanced Ultrasonic Testing methods that form an important element in the SGS portfolio of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) in Singapore and Malaysia in September 2011.
On September 6, 2011 SGS expert Norbert Trimborn provides an overview of Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD), Guided Wave, and Phased Array techniques in Singapore.
Two days later, on September 8, 2011, SGS conducts a further and more in-depth seminar in Malaysia. Again featuring presentations by Norbert Trimborn, this free seminar offers more time for practical demonstrations and discussion, as well as an introduction to the related topics of Asset Integrity Management (AIM), an overview of Risk-Based Inspection, and Corrosion Monitoring.
Participants will have an excellent occasion to meet national and international experts, profit from their knowledge, and learn about experiences gathered around a whole spectrum of innovative testing methods used in a variety of applications, industries, and geographical regions.
About Advanced Ultrasonic Testing
Ultrasonic Testing uses high-frequency sound waves to detect and identify flaws, and it may be applied to measure the remaining thickness of materials that are subjected to corrosion.
Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) has established itself as a widely used tool for the detection and sizing of flaws in welds and is now seen as the most accurate and effective NDT technique in determining such defects.
In contrast to spot measurement techniques, the Guided Wave technique screens 100% of the volume of the piping inspected for metal loss features, such as corrosion and erosion. The piping can be in operation, insulated, and even buried.
Another technique introduced is Phased Array, which is an advanced method of Ultrasonic Testing. It can be used as a standalone technique or even in a combination with others. With Phased Array, multiple zones of interest can be examined with one single probe.
