SGS Holds Successful Seminar On Construction Products Directive (CPD)
From October 12th to the 14th, 2010, SGS Industrial Services held a seminar on the Construction Products Directive (CPD) in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiamen, which, with more than 100 attendees from over 80 companies, proved to be a great success.
- (1888PressRelease) November 05, 2010 - From October 12 to 14, 2010, SGS, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, held a seminar on the Construction Products Directive (CPD) in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiamen, which proved to be a great success. The CPD seminar is a preliminary step towards a greater range of services to be offered by SGS to the construction industry.
The focus of the seminar was the CE (Conformité Européenne) certification of construction products, including procedures, the current certification landscape, latest trends as well as relevant testing methods. This seminar was held by Rico van Selst, Director Business Development at SGS INTRON B.V. and Mr. Mesen Shi, Product Certification Manager at SGS. Both lecturers have many years' experience in the construction industry and in the certification of different products, not only in China but also across the globe.
More than 100 attendees from over 80 companies, which took part in the seminar, had a unique chance to learn more about mandatory requirements involved in attaining the CE mark for construction products and also how to comply with all requirements of the EU Product Safety Directive. It has been the first seminar on the Construction Products Directive since SGS's acquisition of INTRON in 2010. SGS Industrial Services has benefited from the reputation and expertise its highly qualified staff built up over the years at INTRON. Hence this CPD seminar was a preliminary step towards a greater and wider range of services to be offered to the construction industry by SGS.
About Construction Products Directive (CPD)
The Construction Products Directive was adopted by the European Union (EU) in order to achieve quality and safety in building and construction works and to foster the free movement and use of construction products in the international market. The CPD lays down certain essential performance criteria for buildings under six general headings: mechanical resistance and stability, safety in case of fire, hygiene health and environment, safety in use, protection against noise and energy economy including heat retention.
