SGS Helps Clothing Brands Build Trust in Recycled Fibers

  • (1888PressRelease) January 29, 2022 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published an article looking at the drivers impacting the use of recycled fibers in the clothing and textile industry.

The 2025 Recycled Polyester Challenge is encouraging manufacturers to use 80-100% recycled polyester (rPET). Textile fibers have traditionally been difficult to recycle, with an estimated 92 million tons of textile waste being generated annually. Increasing use of rPET represents an opportunity for brands to build consumer trust in their products with recognized, verified claim standards.

SGS’s Consumer Compact article looks at the issues surrounding textile fiber recycling and the drivers for change. It also looks at the options open to brands who want to differentiate their products in competitive markets.
