SGS Extends Electrical Toy Testing Capabilities at Manesar, India
New accreditation facilitates electrical toy testing for local and international markets in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
- (1888PressRelease) June 22, 2019 - SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company, has extended its electrical toy testing capabilities at Manesar, India after gaining accreditation from India’s National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) to undertake testing in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
The accreditation enables SGS to help more manufacturers achieve compliance and a route to EU, USA and/or Asian markets. Specifically, it adds the following capabilities to the laboratory’s testing services:
• IS 15644:2006 + A1:2014
• IEC 62115:2017
• AS/NZS 62115:2008
• ASTM F963:17
India’s Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) mandates that all toys imported to India must be accompanied by relevant test reports required by the IS 9873 and IS 15644 standards and prepared by an independent NABL accredited laboratory. SGS’s laboratory already offers testing for toys to standards including:
• ASTM F963 (USA)
• ISO 8124 (international markets)
• EN 71-standard (Europe)
• IS 9873 (India)
Now SGS toy safety testing services at Manesar can offer a one-stop solution to give toy manufacturers confidence that their products comply with relevant regulations and quality standards, including the EU toy directive and the US Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).
Mrs. Monika Sharma, Business Director – CRS for SGS, said: “This accreditation is great news for our clients. To import electrical toys to India, IS 15644 testing is mandatory and so we are delighted that the industry can benefit from a centralized, single lab location in the region. For the export of toys, whether they are destined for the EU, the USA, Asia, or all three, we are now in a strong position to help more manufacturers achieve compliance and a route to market.”
SGS’s comprehensive toy safety services include:
• New product development support
• Updating on and interpretation of legal requirements
• Safety/risk assessment
• Testing of products and materials

SGS can help ensure EE toys comply with national, regional and international legal regulations, including manufacturing, construction and performance requirements, as well as labeling requirements for both the products and their packaging.
