SGS Details UK Update to List of Toy Safety Standards for Great Britain

SGS publishes SafeGuardS looking at a recent update to the UK list of toy safety standards for presumption of conformity with GB toy legislation. End Quote

(1888PressRelease) July 20, 2023 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS to help stakeholders understand recent revisions to the United Kingdom’s list of standards for presumption of conformity with toy safety legislation.

Notice of Publication 0084/23 was issued by the UK Department for Business and Trade on June 22, 2023. It amends one standard and provides a complete list of designated toy safety standards for Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 2011/1811), which, following Brexit, is relevant to toys offered onto the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland).

The complete list includes:
• Mechanical and physical properties: EN 71-1:2014+A1:2018
• Flammability: EN 71-2:2020
• Migration of certain elements: EN 71-3:2019+A1:2021
• Experimental sets for chemistry and related activities: EN 71-4:2020
• Chemical toys (sets) other than experimental sets: EN 71-5:2015
• Finger paints: EN 71-7:2014+A3:2020
• Activity toys for domestic use: EN 71-8:2018
• N-Nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances: EN 71-12:2016
• Olfactory board games, cosmetic kits and gustative games: EN 71-13:2021+A1:2022
• Trampolines for domestic use: EN 71-14:2018
• Electric toys:
o EN 62115:2005
o EN 62115:2005/A2:2011
o EN 62115:2005/A11:2012
o EN 62115:2005/A12:2015
o EN 62115:2005/A2:2011/AC:2011
o EN 62115:2005/A11:2012/AC:2013
