SGS celebrates Kenya’s Bureau of Standard Award for PVoC services

(1888PressRelease) September 24, 2022 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, is pleased to announce its latest contract win for the delivery of pre-export verification of conformity (PVoC) services to Kenya’s Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

After a tendering process and rigorous evaluation earlier this year, KEBS re-appointed SGS to operate the PVoC program on its behalf with effect from June 2022.

KEBS introduced the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) to its Standards Program to ensure the quality of products to meet health, safety and environmental standards for Kenyans, enabling any non-compliant goods to be denied entry.

Montserrat Martinez, Vice President, Trade Facilitation Services at SGS said: “We are delighted to have maintained our service provision to KEBS and are very proud to have become the only PVoC services provider to have maintained our position with the bureau for the sixth year in a row. This underlines the value of our global expertise to Kenya’s trading regulators.”

This most recent accreditation comes as KEBS announces the exclusion of a small number of countries from the PVoC program, specifically as a pilot exercise to assess its capability in providing destination inspection services.
