SGS Accredited for Voluntary Certification Under China RoHS
SGS obtains accreditation for Voluntary Certification for electrical appliances and electronic products under China RoHS.
- (1888PressRelease) March 28, 2020 - SGS is pleased to announce it can now support businesses with compliance to China’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical Appliances and Electronic Products (China RoHS).
SGS was accredited for Voluntary Certification to China RoHS by the State Administration for Market Research (SAMR) and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
Under the Implementation Arrangement for China RoHS, jointly announced by SAMR and MIIT on May 16, 2019, enterprises must choose between voluntary certification and self-declaration to complete the conformity assessment. This applies to any electrical appliance and/or electronic product included in the “Standard Achieving Management Catalog”.
SGS is now accredited to support Voluntary Certification. When a manufacturer or supplier chooses this route to compliance, they need to firstly submit their application to an accredited third-party certification body, such as SGS. The certification body with then assess whether the product meets the relevant standards and technical specifications under China RoHS.
When a product passes the assessment, it will receive a certificate issued by the certification body. The certification body will also relay this information to the public service platform within five working days.
A green product label can then be used or displayed on the product’s body, nameplate, packaging, accompanying documents (such as instructions, certifications, etc.), operating systems, electronic sales platforms, etc. This must be done in compliance to the “Rules on the Green Product Labeling”.
